Kim-Vs-KateIn the 1990s, Kate Moss was one of the most popular models, gracing runways and magazines across the world. Her waifish figure made her a highly desirable, and controversial model. These were the years of Nirvana and “heroine chic.” Plastic Surgeons’ offices were filled with thin women who wanted to be even thinner. In particular, they requested liposuction of the buttocks to give a small, flat backside.

My Top 3 Procedures of 2011

As 2011 came to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to look back at my top 3 procedures of the year. I performed over 500 surgical procedures in 2011, making it my busiest year ever. These procedures included cosmetic procedures of the face and body, as well as reconstructive surgeries from head to toe. To come up with my “Top 3”, I looked at several factors including the number of procedures performed, media requests about these procedures, and overall demand.

Success of a Brazilian Butt Lift

The success of a Brazilian Butt Lift has to do with the fat harvesting, processing, and injection technique.

This popular term refers to buttock augmentation with autologous fat transfer. These medical terms may seem confusing, but this means that we make your butt bigger using injections of your own fat. Fat is removed from areas of your body, this fat is processed and washed so that the fat cells are isolated, and then these fat cells are injected into your buttock. In general, several hundred to 1000 cc of fat cells are injected during a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. So, how does making your butt bigger give you a “lift”? By adding volume to the butt, your backside becomes fuller, plumper, and actually gets lifted.

In the world of cosmetic surgery, it is common for patients to specifically request the body part of a Hollywood Star – not the actual body part in a Dexter sort of way, but that their body part be altered to resemble someone else’s. When it comes to buttocks, leading the list of most requested are Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, and Beyonce. While genetics probably has the most to do with it, a good combination of liposuction and fat transfer can help my patients of plastic surgery at my office in New York City.
