What’s Coming Up in Plastic Surgery for 2015?

What will 2015 bring in the world of plastic surgery? As medical advancements make surgery easier and safer, interest in cosmetic treatments is expected to continue to climb.

Top New York City board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Matthew Schulman can help make this the year you achieve the look you’ve been dreaming of.

Looking forward to the year ahead, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery revealed its predictions for 2015:

Doubling Up on Benefits

Patients are expected to combine cosmetic benefits with reconstructive/functional surgeries, and vice versa, as the line between the two fades in 2015.

“Stacking” for Success

This year could also see a rise in “stacking” procedures, in which treatments are combined to increase their efficacy. The benefits of these treatments can increase exponentially versus when they are used alone. For example, when Botox or other neurotoxins are used along with facial fillers, the fillers can target tissues more accurately, with longer-lasting results. Also, drugs can be delivered using lasers to ensure that the active ingredient reaches its target.

Smile, Your Face Is On Camera

Pervasive camera phones and photo-centric social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have just about everyone viewing — and judging — the appearance of their face now more than ever. From teens to seniors, photographs are more plentiful and more public. Those wanting to improve their appearance in closeup photos and “selfies” are turning to rhinoplasty, eye lift surgery (blepharoplasty), neck lift and other facial plastic surgery procedures.

Staying Young

Today’s active seniors can look as young as they feel. A recent study shows that cosmetic surgery patients over the age of 80 are at no higher risk for complications than younger patients. This news could encourage even more seniors to improve their appearance in 2015.

2014: The “Year of Booty”

As 2014 came to a close, pop culture commentators focused their attention on celebrities who displayed the year’s most popular body part: a big, round booty. Billboard referred to 2014 as the “Year of Ass,” and MTV News made a list of their favorite “2014 Biggest Booty Moments.”

Their lists include eye-popping visuals such as rapper Nicki Minaj’s record-breaking “Anaconda” video and the single’s cover photo, Beyonce as “Bootylicious” as ever in her MTV Video Music Awards performance, Taylor Swift showing some cheek in a short romper on the VMA red carpet, Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea rubbing their famous derrieres together as they teamed up for their “Booty” music video — and, of course, no one could forget the image of Kim Kardashian’s naked bottom on the cover of Paper magazine.

Brazilian Butt Lift NYCTo achieve a voluptuous behind of their own, women visited plastic surgeons.
