No buts about it … the butt is one of the most admired parts of the body.
Unfortunately, not everyone is born with naturally gorgeous curves. And this remains a core reason why one of the most popular cosmetic procedures today is buttocks augmentation.
As the American Society of Plastic Surgeons explains, buttock augmentations like Brazilian butt lifts can be an excellent choice for anyone who wants to improve the fullness and projection of their butt. It’s also a great option for people who want to balance out their figure in a natural way — and improve their self-confidence.

Butt Implants Vs BBL
There are two options if you want a more curvaceous butt. It comes down to butt implants vs BBL (Brazilian butt lift).
Many people assume that the two procedures are almost the same. In fact, they couldn’t be more different.
For starters, butt implant surgery can have some major drawbacks. For instance, implants are made from artificial materials and carry a risk of infection, extrusion (popping out through the skin), malposition (shifting from proper placement), and scarring. Furthermore, if there is a complication from the implants, the treatment usually requires an additional surgery and removal of the implants.
On the other hand, fat is your body’s own tissue and does not carry the risks associated with artificial implants. Complications that may arise after fat transfers can usually be treated without an additional surgery or invasive procedure.
Another downside to implants is that they may need to be replaced over time. Conversely, fat is a living cell and doesn’t need to be replaced. It is already a part of your body, and it will continue to be a part of your body in its new location after a BBL.
Another issue with butt implants vs BBL is that the placement of implants requires a longer incision within the butt crack, and this scar may become thick, raised, or painful and possible longer recovery time.
The good news about fat placement with a Brazilian butt lift surgery is that it is done through small punctures in the buttock and hips. These scars are short and easily hidden.
Possible Drawback of Butt Implants Vs BBL
Let’s take a look at some of the other drawbacks of implants and how BBLs may provide a better alternative.
First, it’s worth noting that butt implants only change the shape and size of the buttocks and do nothing for the rest of the body.
However, with a fat transfer, fat needs to be harvested through liposuction. This means that the harvesting of fat from certain areas will make those areas smaller. For example, when someone gets a fat transfer to the butt and hips, they also get the abdomen, back, flanks, arms, thighs (or any other area) made smaller. Therefore, a BBL surgery is essentially two procedures in one — liposuction and fat transfer.
Second, implants can only increase the projection of the buttock; they will not increase the size of the hips or body shape.
On the other hand, fat in a transfer can be placed in any area of the body, including the buttock and hips. For example, it can be placed in the buttock to increase projection and/or placed in the hips to improve the shape of your curves. Injecting fat is customized to what each person needs or wants.
Next, implants only change the size of the buttock and do very little to reshape the buttock. They cannot make a square butt look round, for example — or make a long butt look shorter.
Fat, though, can be placed in a way that reshapes the buttock and hips, meaning that it can change an unattractive square butt into a more aesthetically pleasing round or heart-shaped butt. In this way, when it comes to butt implants vs BBL, it’s easy to see that a transfer can accomplish much more than implants.
Additionally, implants will always remain the same size and shape for as long as they are in place, even if your body changes. Fat, however, is a living cell and will change as your body changes. This means that if you gain weight after BBL, your butt and hips will increase in size, and if you lose weight, your butt and hips will shrink.
Finally, fat is soft and adds additional cushioning to the buttocks. Implants can feel firm, and can, at times, be painful during sitting _ especially if the implants are placing pressure on the main sensory nerve to the leg (sciatic nerve).
If you want to know which is safer BBL or implants, in most cases, because of the natural transfer of the patient’s own unwanted fat with a BBL, Brazilian butt lifts tend to be safer. There is not a risk of implant rejection with BBLs either.

Questions And Answers about Buttock Augmentation
How Long Does a BBL Last?
Most BBL fat transfers last at least five years, but they can last indefinitely depending on the patient’s age, fitness level, skin elasticity, and other factors.
Can you get a BBL after implants?
Generally speaking, BBL implants are safe procedures (when a BBL is performed on a patient who has implants). This is something you’ll need to discuss directly with your surgeon, however, as all patients and surgeries are different.
What’s Better Butt Implants or Fat Transfer Procedures?
For most patients, fat transfers (BBLs) are the answer. As butt augmentation reviews typically show, BBLs are ideal for people who want to improve their confidence levels and those who want a more curvaceous look for their backside.
Is BBL cheaper than implants?
While buttock implants do come at a higher cost compared to a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), they can be a preferable choice for individuals lacking sufficient fat for augmentation. However, it is worth noting that many individuals believe a BBL provides a more authentic appearance and tactile sensation compared to buttock implants.
Do the Kardashians have butt implants?
Does Kim Kardashian have a fake butt? Despite ongoing speculation and a remarkable transformation of her derrière that rivals the surprise factor of a typical season finale of “The Bachelor,” Kim Kardashian, the founder of Skims, has consistently refuted the claims of undergoing surgical procedures to enhance her posterior.
