Neck Liposuction versus Neck Lift
Neck liposuction is removal of fat with small cannulas through tiny holes. As stated earlier, this only removes fat and any appearance of skin reduction is the normal skin tightening that happens after liposuction. This is a minimally invasive procedure that can be done under local anesthesia in under 1 hour.
A neck lift is an invasive surgical procedure that combines skin removal and usually tightening of the neck muscles and liposuction. This is done through incisions under the chin and behind the ears. A neck lift requires general anesthesia and can take 2-3 hours. This is a significantly more invasive procedure with additional recovery time and scarring. This is designed for the person with loose skin of the neck, usually from weight loss or aging.
Your Neck Liposuction consultation
During your consultation with Dr. Schulman, he will examine you and guide you about the best procedure for you. It is possible that neck liposuction will provide you with excellent results and minimal pain and recovery. However, if you have more significant laxity of the skin, you may do better with a surgical neck lift procedure, or even a facelift.
