Does medical insurance cover breast reduction surgery procedure?
Everyone’s insurance is different. Sometimes insurance can cover breast reduction surgery because it may be considered part of managing the back, neck, and shoulder pain. Dr. Schulman’s office staff is happy to help you submit the proper paperwork to your insurance cover to see if they will reimburse you for your breast reduction procedure.
After all, it’s a much different surgery then say a Brazilian butt lift. In order for you to be eligible for insurance reimbursement for your breast reduction with Dr. Schulman, you will need to make sure you have out-of-network benefits and be able to provide documentation that this surgery is “medically necessary.”
What are the risks involved?
Dr. Schulman takes every precaution to make sure that you are very pleased with the outcome of the breast reduction surgery. You will be seen by your primary medical doctor for a full medical clearance. Smokers have an increased risk of wound healing complications, and this is why Dr. Schulman will NOT operate on smokers. During your surgery, you will be monitored by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist so that your anesthetic risks are minimized.
How will the scars look after the surgery?
The breast reduction scars will be as minimal as they can be. Dr. Schulman uses an anchor or lollipop incision, depending on which is going to be better for your body shape. He uses advanced techniques to help minimize scarring, but this often depends on your body’s ability to heal.
We recommend specific scar gels and laser treatments to help promote good scar formation.
What is short scar breast reduction?
Utilizing the short scar technique reduces the breast base, achieving a conical and projected shape for a ‘perky’ appearance. Additionally, it lowers the risk of skin or nipple loss.
