It is designed to rejuvenate skin, treat wrinkles, reduce pore size, stimulate collagen, and even reduce scarring with this unique and effective facial.
The EscarGlow® combines the anti-aging properties of snail extract with the collagen-inducing micro-needling device. We have combined several well-known advances in skin care into a single treatment so that you can get full benefit to your skin.
EscarGlow® facial has gained significant notoriety on television and magazines because of its uniqueness. In fact, the treatment is so popular in Dr. Schulman’s office that it is commonly imitated other offices and spas. But remember, there’s only one place to get the real EscarGlow® facial.
A combination of micro-needling along with the application of a special snail secretion. This snail secretion is applied before, during and after the micro-needling to increase penetration and effectiveness. Snails have been used for centuries for their unique healing properties that are attributed to the peptides and growth factors of the snail slime. Growth factors are proven to show a significant increase in the amount of collagen and elastin production in the skin and a reduced downtime when combined with micro-needling. Snail secretions also have unique healing properties that have been used by people dating way back to the ancient Romans.
The secretions come from the snails. No snails are harmed in the gathering of the secretions since it naturally occurs on the snails. The secretions are gathered from farm raised snails that are really specifically for this purpose. The secretion is professionally concentrated and purified before being applied to your skin.
No. While this is possible, the amount of snail secretions needed to have a clinically proven benefit would be so high, that you would literally need hundreds (if not thousands) of snails on your face. Instead, we use highly concentrated and purified snail slime so that you get the benefit of hundreds of snails, without the discomfort (and frankly, grossness) of having them on your face. It also helps ensure that the snail secretion is free from potentially harmful contaminants or bacteria. Letting snails crawl on your face makes great photos and videos, but will not offer the results that we see with our EscarGlow® facial.
There is little to no downtime after the EscarGlow®. You can expect slight redness and sensitivity for about 24 hours after the treatment. Because each facial is customized to your skin needs, if you require deeper treatment for more significant skin irregularities, then you may experience a slightly longer downtime.
The treatment can take anywhere between 45 minutes to 60 minutes. This is because it is simply more than just rubbing some snail secretions on your skin. The treatment involves cleansing of the skin, extractions if needed, application of snail secretions, micro needling, and a post procedure soothing treatment.
Most patients find the treatment slightly uncomfortable, but tolerable. A topical numbing medication can be applied prior to treatment to reduce discomfort. Any discomfort you feel is from the needling portion of the procedure. The snail secretions actually improve your skin healing ability. therefore, it reduces any discomfort that you would normally feel after micro-needling without the addition of the snail secretions.
Dr. Schulman recommends 3 to 6 treatments to achieve optimal results. EscarGlow® treatments offer the most dramatic result when performed once a month.
You must discontinue any exfoliating products including alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) serums, scrubs, retinol night creams and topical prescriptions (Triluma, Retin-A, Tretinoin etc…) for at least 5 days prior to and 5 days after your treatment. This will help reduce any irritation you might experience after the treatment. You should avoid wearing any makeup for at least 12 hours after your treatment, until the small holes in your skin are healed. We also recommend applying sunscreen to your face daily for about 10 days. This is because your skin will be extra sensitive to the UV rays of the sun during its healing period
Immediately after the treatment there will be some slight redness. Then you should expect some slight dryness and flaking for a few days. Next skin will be regenerating and you should enjoy a healthy glow. However, long-term benefits of the EscarGlow® Facial Will be seen over the course of a few months.
Currently our New York City office is the only place where you can get the true EscarGlow®. facial. This treatment was specifically designed by Dr. showman utilizing a variety of known skin treatments. Simply rubbing snail secretion on your skin does not make something an EscarGlow®. facial. Many other offices and medical spas have tried to imitate this treatment. Some have even gone so far as to use the eschar glow name. However, Dr. Schulman is very protective of this at a unique treatment. This means that at the present time he is not allowing other officers to perform his signature EscarGlow®. facial. Any advertising you may see for the EscarGlow®. facial from another office is an imitation.
