Recovery
After your surgery, your incisions will be covered with gauze or bandages. To minimize swelling and provide support, an elastic bandage or support bra may be applied to your breasts, and a compression garment may be used for your abdomen, waist, and buttocks.
Dr. Schulman will provide you with specific instructions for post-operative care, which may include:
- Guidance on how to care for your surgical site(s) to promote healing and reduce the risk of infection.
- Medications to apply topically or take orally to aid in healing.
- Information on what to look for in terms of concerns related to your surgical site or general health.
- Guidance on when to follow up with your plastic surgeon.
During your recovery period, it’s important to ask Dr. Schulman questions about what to expect.
Some questions you may want to ask include:
Where will you be taken after your surgery is complete?
What medications will you be given or prescribed after surgery?
Will you have dressings/bandages after surgery, and when will they be removed?
Will drains be used, and if so, for how long?
When can you bathe or shower?
When can you resume normal activities and exercise?
When do you need to return for follow-up care?
Healing will continue over several weeks as swelling subsides. It’s important to closely follow Dr Schulman’s instructions and attend all scheduled follow-up visits for optimal recovery.
