A male BBL can increase the size of the buttocks and add more fullness and projection while at the same time reducing unwanted fat on the abdomen — and elsewhere if desired.
Ultimately, we’re aiming to give men a silhouette they feel confident about. When compared to a female BBL surgery, with a male BBL, most men want a masculine look with less belly fat and slight larger buttocks.
One of the most common questions we receive concerning this surgery is in regards to cost. Ultimately, male BBL cost must be determined by your plastic surgeon, usually at your consultation appointment. This will be the first time your surgeon meets with you to discuss your goals and perform a short physical examination.
Below, we’ll go over the major factors that will contribute to your male BBL surgery cost as well as some key facts to keep in mind about the surgery itself.
How Much Does a Male BBL Cost?
Overall, when you are undergoing any type of plastic surgery, the major factors that will contribute to the cost of your surgery will be the following:
- Your surgeon’s experience
- The geographic location of your surgery
- Anesthesia
- Surgical facility or hospital fees
- Consultation and follow up appointment fees
- Aftercare fees, including the cost of prescription medications, compression garments, and other recovery items
In terms of Brazilian butt lift surgery specifically, there are some additional costs to consider as well. These include:
- How much excess fat you would like to have removed
- From how many places you would like to have harvested fat removed
- How much excess fat you would like to have transferred (injected) into the hips and buttock area
- Whether you desire additional procedures, such as a tummy tuck surgery, gynecomastia surgery, etc.
Male Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure Overview
The Brazilian butt lift surgical procedure is a fat grafting or fat transfer cosmetic surgery. For the most part, it has replaced other types of butt lift surgery such as butt augmentation with butt implants. A Brazilian butt lift BBL procedure uses the patient’s own fat to augment the size of the hips and buttocks and create the desired shape.
With liposuction, fat is first removed from the stomach or sometimes from other areas like the upper arms or thighs, and it is relocated to the hips and buttocks. Most male patients do not want a lot of added volume on their hips (to the sides of their body), but they may want a little more volume in their buttocks and improved projection.
Once the fat has been removed, we will process it outside the body and purify it. Then, Dr. Schulman will reinject the harvested fat into the hips and buttocks in the predetermined locations to achieve the desired outcome.
How Female and Male Brazilian Butt Lifts Differ
The male and female buttocks are very different when it comes to aesthetics. While every patient has their own idea of what is attractive or beautiful, overall, we mostly see men wanting just a small amount of added volume in the buttocks.
Both men and women typically desire a slim stomach, so abdominal liposuction tends to be a commonality. However, another key difference is that men typically want a straighter profile overall. They have little desire for an “hourglass figure” (small waist and wider, larger hips and butt), which is often requested by women.
FAQ: Male BBL Procedure
Am I a good candidate for male BBL surgery?
In order to be a good candidate for this cosmetic procedure, you’ll need to be in good health. This means not having any serious ongoing medical conditions, being at a healthy stable weight, leading a healthy lifestyle, being a non-smoker, and of course having realistic expectations about your BBL results.
In addition, specific to BBL surgery in particular, you’ll need to have an adequate amount of unwanted fat on your body so that we can transfer that fat to your butt and hips.
How much excess fat do I need for a male BBL?
Patients must have enough fat on the abdomen, arms, or elsewhere to be eligible for BBL surgery. At the same time, it’s important that patients are not too overweight or obese. A stable healthy weight is recommended and typically required my most board certified plastic surgeons.
Fortunately for male patients, because the male buttocks typically does not require the transfer of an abundance of fat cells in order to achieve the patient’s goals, most men are good candidates. Typically, only micro fat injections are used to augment the buttock size. With that said, you must be assessed by your surgeon at a consultation appointment before you can book your surgery.

For some people, plastic surgery is still seen as something that only women do. But we are seeing more and more men approach plastic surgery with openness and curiosity. More men are undergoing surgeries to help reshape their bodies and boost their confidence, and this can lead to many other positive changes in their lives as a whole.
If you are a man who is unhappy with the amount of belly fat you have and you’d like your buttocks to be slightly bigger, often, diet and exercise just aren’t going to cut it when trying to make changes. With that said, we do encourage a healthy lifestyle, but you also might consider adding in a plastic surgery procedure such as a male Brazilian butt lift.
