What exactly is a male Brazilian butt lift (BBL)?
A Brazilian butt lift surgery is a plastic surgery procedure that uses liposuction to remove excess fat cells from the stomach, flanks, and sometimes the back and other areas. These harvested fat cells are then relocated to the buttocks and hips to achieve the desired shape.
The male version of the BBL procedure will vary slightly from the female version, but the general idea is the same: using the patient’s own body fat to reshape the torso, hips, and buttocks and ideally create a more attractive figure overall.
How does the BBL procedure differ for men compared to women?
The basic procedure steps of a male BBL compared to a female BBL are basically the same. The core difference is that we’re going to aim for a more masculine figure with a male BBL — that is, a V shaped torso and less fat on the sides of the hips and in the “love handles” area.
Essentially, we’re not going for an hourglass figure for men. Instead, we want sleek and chiseled with an emphasis on the patient’s musculature and a straight up and down masculine frame (no noticeable “hips”). What are the main reasons men opt for a BBL?
Just like women, men often feel that they would look better if their fat was differently distributed. Many male BBL patients are men who eat a healthy diet, work out multiple times a week, and generally take care of themselves.
But even with these positive lifestyle choices, some men simply have a unique set of genes that give them an undesirable shape, especially in the midsection, hip, and buttock area. A BBL can change the distribution here and create a more attractive figure.

Is the recovery process different for men after a BBL?
Generally speaking no, you should have the same BBL recovery protocol as any woman who has this surgery. With that said, sometimes a higher volume of fat is transferred during a female Brazilian butt lift. So, in some cases, women may have a slightly longer or more challenging recovery because they may have more liposuction and more fat injections.
How much does a male BBL cost?
Male BBL cost is something you’ll need to discuss one-on-one with your chosen plastic surgeon.
Prices can very drastically based on how much your surgeon charges for their fee, how much your anesthesia is, where you get surgery (whether it’s at a surgical facility, hospital, or an in-office operating room), the city where you have surgery, and the scope of your surgery (how much fat is being transferred and from where to where.
Are there any age restrictions for men getting a BBL?
Typically, the minimum age you can undergo a BBL is 18. Most male BBL patients are between the ages of 18 and 55.
Can men with a lower body mass still undergo a BBL?
While it is true that you need to have enough excess fat to qualify for a Brazilian butt lift surgery, most men do qualify. This is largely because we won’t typically be transferring a tremendous amount of fat during male BBLs. For male BBL results, men usually aim for a straight figure with some stomach fat removal, just a bit of sculpting, and a slight amount of fat added to the buttocks.
On the other hand, women tend to want bigger changes. Therefore, to achieve the typical woman’s BBL results, she needs to have more unwanted fat on her body to start with — particularly on her waist, sides, and back.
How long do the results of a male BBL typically last?
As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle, which means eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and maintaining a steady weight following surgery, you should benefit from your results for many years. As long as it survives, the new fat that is relocated to the buttocks is just like the fat that was organically there to start with, and this means the new (and old) fat should last as long as the natural effects of aging permit.
Will there be noticeable scarring after the surgery?

Yes, BBLs do result in scars, but they are very small. The injection scars are minuscule, and even the lipo scars are quite small. Are there any dietary restrictions to follow before or after a male BBL?
You should not smoke or drink alcohol right before or after surgery. A healthy, varied diet that is high in protein is recommended. Limit sodium and caffeine. Drink plenty of water. After surgery, talk to your surgeon about when you can resume caffeine, alcohol, and smoking if you desire.
