Mommy Makeover Recovery
Following your mommy makeover surgery, your incisions will be carefully covered with either gauze or bandages. To help reduce swelling and offer additional support, your breasts may be wrapped with an elastic bandage or support bra, while your abdomen, waist, and buttocks may be fitted with a compression garment.
Dr. Schulman will provide you with specific instructions for post-operative care, which may include:
- Guidance on how to care for your surgical site(s) to promote healing and reduce the risk of infection.
- Medications to apply topically or taken orally to aid in healing.
- Information on what to look for in terms of concerns related to your surgical site or general health.
- Guidance on when to follow up with your plastic surgeon.
During your recovery period, it’s important to ask Dr. Schulman questions about what to expect.
Some questions you may want to ask include:
Where will you be taken after your surgery is complete?
What medications will you be given or prescribed after surgery?
Will you have dressings/bandages after surgery, and when will they be removed?
Will drains be used, and if so, for how long?
When can you bathe or shower?
When can you resume normal activities and exercise?
When do you need to return for follow-up care?
As your body heals, the swelling will gradually subside over the course of several weeks. To ensure the best possible recovery, it’s crucial to carefully adhere to Dr. Schulman’s instructions and attend all scheduled follow-up appointments.
