What to Expect During Male BBL Recovery

What to Expect During Male BBL Recovery

Male BBL recovery can be tough for guys who are eager to get back to work, back to their exercise routines, and back to their normal activities. But if you’re a man who’s interested in undergoing fat transfer male BBL surgery, it’s important to know that the recovery period can be just as impactful as the surgery itself.

Below, we’ll describe what you can expect in terms of recovery symptoms and restrictions during the healing process. We’ll also talk about how to reduce the appearance of scars and how long your BBL results should last.

What to Expect During Your Male BBL Recovery Time

After your male Brazilian butt lift procedure, you can expect to have some soreness (both at the donor sites and the buttocks and hips areas), swelling, and bruising. These are all common symptoms. Pain medication can help with discomfort.

You should plan to take it easy for at least one week of your Brazilian butt lift recovery. After this time, you may be able to return to work if you have a basically sedentary job.

Male recovery from BBL

During your initial BBL recovery week, follow a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, wear your compression garment as instructed, and avoid strenuous exercise. Do try to take short walks, however, as this will reduce the occurrence of a blood clot.

Finally, remember that if you want a nicely shaped butt (and not a flat butt!) after surgery, you’ll need to keep weight and pressure off your buttocks and ensure good blood supply to your buttocks and hips. This will enable the newly transferred fat cells to develop their own blood supply and survive the transfer.

Your surgeon will have additional BBL recovery tips to follow as well.

How to Reduce the Appearance of Scars After a BBL

In male BBL before and after photos, you’ll likely see no visible scarring. This is because BBL plastic surgery typically does not leave any noticeable scars.

The first part of the BBL procedure (liposuction to remove stubborn fat) only requires very small incisions (big enough to fit a thin cannula through). And the second part (transfer of the fat to the designated areas) will only require injection sites with a needle. These scars will likely look like small dots.

If you want to reduce the appearance of these scars even further, we recommend you use scar massage, silicone gel sheets (many plastic surgeons recommend these), and limit your movement (straining and stretching) during the first few weeks post-op.

BBL Results

After your BBL recovery, you can expect your BBL results and new shapely butt to last for many years. Of course, you will need to do a few things in order to maintain your results.

First, you of course need to make sure that the transplanted fat cells survive the transfer process. This means keeping pressure and weight off of your hips and buttocks over the first few weeks. In general, take it easy during this time. Most patients fill their days with rest, sleep, movies, reading, being online, and talking to friends.

You’ll also need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This will be true forever! Do not smoke, avoid overconsumption of alcohol, eat healthy foods (protein, healthy fats, lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, etc.), and exercise regularly.

To avoid excessive bleeding, strain on your incision sites, and other complications, do not exercise right away after surgery. But once cleared to start moving again, go for it.

Regular physical activity (and eating right) will help you maintain a healthy weight and a good fat distribution on your body. While you should not “grow back” the unwanted fat cells that were removed with liposuction, it is still possible to gain fat over time on various areas of your body, and this can ultimately sabotage the results of your BBL surgical procedure.

FAQ: BBL Surgery for Men

BBL recovery from men

What is an hourglass male BBL?

An hourglass male BBL is a BBL plastic surgery procedure that aims to reduce excess fat in the waist area and increase the size of the buttock region. This type of Brazilian butt lift surgery creates an hourglass shape.

Of course, most men do not want their Brazilian butt lifts to be obvious, so the extent to which male hourglass BBLs are performed is usually modest.

How much is a male BBL?

Male BBL cost will depend on how much fat you are having removed from your abdominal area, how much fat you want transferred to your buttocks and hips, your surgeon’s fee, anesthesia costs, post-surgery recovery costs, and more.

Your best bet at being able to see an accurate estimate of the cost of your surgery is to book a consultation appointment so that you can meet in person with Dr. Schulman, and he can assess your situation.
