alloClae™ in New York City

alloClae™ is an innovative aesthetic treatment that provides natural enlargement, smoothing, and reshaping of the body with the use of donor fat cells. This innovative approach allows individuals to achieve desired improvements in their bodies without undergoing invasive surgery. It is an excellent option for patients who may not have adequate body fat for traditional fat transfer procedures or for those who wish to avoid the discomfort and prolonged recovery associated with surgery and anesthesia.

alloClae™ is a non-surgical injectable fat transfer filler consisting of sterilized donor fat to enhance body contours without the need for liposuction. alloClae™ Structural Adipose Tissue is a sterile adipose tissue allograft uniquely processed in a way that makes it ready ready-to-use, directly from a syringe. After harvesting donor fat, a precision process is used to remove all DNA and its reactive components, leaving de-identified fat cells that will not trigger any rejection by your body. Most importantly, the process preserves the naturally-occurring growth factors, proteins and collagen matrix. This allows the injected fat cells to mature, integrate, and give the shape and volume you desire. Simply put, this is not a traditional filler. It is human fat, injected into your body, that becomes your own natural fat.

The treatment is minimally invasive, requires limited or no recovery time, and effectively addresses soft tissue irregularities, making it suitable for various aesthetic enhancements including facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation, and body contouring.

alloClae™ combines the principles of regenerative medicine and aesthetic surgery to provide immediate volumetric enhancement. It is an ideal choice for those desiring effective facial and body rejuvenation without the need for surgical intervention.

How is alloClae™ injected?

You will be evaluated by Dr. Schulman so that he understands your areas of concerns and how much alloClae™ is required to give your desired results. The area is numbed using local anesthesia, and the alloClae™ is injected using a small cannula attached to pre-filled syringes. A single absorbable suture may be placed in the cannula access site, and the area will be covered with mildly compressive tape. Because only local anesthesia was used, you will have an immediate return to normal activity, without any lingering side effects if general anesthesia.

In many cases, alloClae™ will be combined with another procedure that you may already be having, such as Aveli for cellulite removal, mommy makeover, tummy tucks, and breast implants.

Meet Dr. Schulman, an alloClae™ specialist

As a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with extensive experience in fat transfer for breast and body contouring, the addition of alloClae™ to my practice is a perfect match. I utilize alloClae™ exactly the same way I would for your own fat. The only difference is that I don’t need to perform liposuction to get it, and this makes your recovery easy and your overall experience improved. It is also why I am able to perform procedures like BBLs on people who don’t have any fat! This is the reason why I was chosen by the company to among the first plastic surgeons in the world to have access to this revolutionary product, making me among the most experienced alloClae™ providers around.

Who is a Candidate for alloClae™?

Ideal candidates for alloClae™ are those who desire reshaping, refining, and augmentation of the breast, body, and face, and but prefer a less invasive alternative to traditional fat grafting (that requires liposuction to harvest the fat). It is particularly beneficial for patients who lack sufficient body fat for traditional fat transfer methods. If you were ever told that you are “too skinny” for procedures like Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) or breast augmentation with fat, alloClae™ now offers you an option.

Questions and answers about alloClae™

alloClae™ is human donor fat that has been processed in a way that can be used in your body to reshape, enlarge, enhance, and smooth. It is in a ready-to-use- syringe and injection requires nothing more than local anesthesia

alloClae™ can be used in a variety of areas of your face and body. Most commonly it is used in the buttocks, hip dips, and breasts. But is can also be used in the face or other areas of the body where you can benefit from more volume. It is also used to improve contour deformities from prior liposuction.

Yes. alloClae™ comes from donors in the same way that other tissue and organs are harvested. But unlike getting an organ transplant that requires genetic compatibility and “matching”, alloClae™ is processed in a way that removes all genetic material so that “matching” is not required and there is no risk of genetic rejection.

No…at least not yet. Currently alloClae™ is harvested in a way that can only be done will deceased donors. Perhaps one day technology will allow us to harvest the fat from you while you are alive, but we aren’t there just yet

Absolutely! alloClae™ is commonly injected at the same time as other procedures. It makes a perfect pairing with Aveli when treating cellulite dimples. It is also commonly performed at the same time as mommy makeover, tummy tucks, breast lifts and augmentations, and even Brazilian Butt Lifts if you need a little more fat.

Data from animal studies shows that once alloClae™ has been injected, stem cells attach within the initial 24-48 hours. By two weeks, the injected adipocytes (fat cells) have matured, with early integration into the host tissue by 4 weeks. At 3 months following the procedure, there is robust integration of the adipocytes, with stable results seen by 6 months. Once the fat cells are stable, they become part of your body. The current FDA clearance states that it is “long-lasting” but based on the studies and science, there is no reason to think that the fat cells will act exactly as your natural fat cells and be there forever, barring any extreme loss of weight.

alloClae™ is injected using local anesthesia so the recovery is rapid. You can expect some temporary bruising, swelling, and tenderness at the injection sites and this may last for 1-2 weeks. However, you can resume normal daily activities immediately after the procedure.

It depends on the areas being injected and the amount of volume you need to add. alloClae™ comes in individual syringes of 12.5cc and it is not uncommon to place amounts anywhere from 50cc for small specific areas to several hundred for larger areas. Because the product is thick and has a lot of support, alloClae™ offers significantly more volume improvement than with the same amount of fillers or your won fat. At consultation, Dr. Schulman will be able to tell you how much he thinks you need. Because liposuction is not required and the recovery is rapid, you always have the option of adding more volume at some point down the line.

Other injectables like Hyaluronic Acid (Restylane, Juvederm), Radiesse, and Sculptra are synthetic materials used for filling. While some of the products like Sculptra, do a god job at stimulating collagen and filling lines and thickening skin, none stimulate fat. So, if you are looking for more fat volume, alloClae™ is the only product that is actually fat. The other products also require additional treatments for maintaining your result and over time, the cost can really add up. alloClae™ provides actual fat volume that becomes incorporated as you’re your own fat, and is designed to be done only once, knowing that you can have more injections if you want more volume

Yes! If you want fat transfer, but you don’t have enough fat because you are skinny, alloClae™ is perfect for you. Injecting alloClae™ because there is not enough of your own donor fat is the number one reason why people come for the procedure.

No, alloClae™ is carefully prepared to remove all genetic materials that can cause issue like “non-compatibility” and rejection that you can see in other organ and tissue transplants. alloClae™ is also exposed to gamma radiation after sterilization to make sure that there are no contaminants in the product. Rejection does not happen with alloClae™

Absolutely. alloClae™ is processed and distributed in compliance with strict requirements from the FDA (21 CFR Part 1271). These requirements mean that the donated tissue is carefully screened and tested by a lab registered with the FDA, using test kits licensed, approved or cleared by the FDA, for relevant risk factors and thoroughly tested for relevant communicable diseases. Each donor is tested and shown to be negative or nonreactive for the following:

  • Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 Antibody (Anti-HIV-1)
  • Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 2 Antibody (Anti-HIV-2)
  • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg)
  • Hepatitis B Core Total Antibody (Anti-HBc or HBcAb)
  • Hepatitis C Virus Antibody (anti-HCV)
  • Syphilis Non-treponemal and/or Treponemal-specific assay
  • HIV-1/HCV/HBV ULTRIO Nucleic Acid Test (NAT)

To create alloClae™, the tissue is then precision-processed to remove DNA and its reactive components, leaving de-identified fat cells, and their naturally occurring growth factors, proteins and collagen. Prior to shipment, alloClae™ is sterilized using gamma radiation to remove possible contaminants.

There should not be side-effects from alloClae™ specifically, but since it is injected using a small cannula and local anesthesia, there is always the risk of bruising, swelling, anesthetic reaction, and lumps. Dr. Schulman will review these risks with you prior to your treatment.

alloClae™ alloClae™ is derived from donated human fat tissue processed and distributed in compliance with strict requirements from the FDA (21 CFR Part 1271). It is human tissue and not a synthetic filler found in other products.

Renuva is an injectable product that consists of purified fat matrix and proteins, designed to stimulate your body to create fat over time. alloClae™ is structural human fat that offers immediate volume with fat that becomes your own. Renuva is available in smaller volume and takes time to produce fat and usually requires multiple treatments. alloClae™ I available in significantly larger volumes and offers immediate results. Using a very crude and simplistic analogy, Renuva is like spreading grass seed, and alloClae™ is more like putting down sod.

The cost will depend on how much alloClae™ you are having injected. Because this is human tissue and requires intricate harvesting and preparation, the cost is significantly more than traditional fillers. However, this procedure should not be thought of as “injecting fillers”. This is transplant of human fat tissue and is best thought of as an alternate to a more invasive surgical procedure, and the cost will be more similar to the surgical procedure it is being used for.

It is important to select a provider that is experienced with traditional fat transfer procedures such as Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs), or fat transfer to the breasts and face. This is because alloClae™ is injected the same way as if it was your own harvested fat. Someone who is an experienced injector with botox or fillers, may be good with a needle, but using alloClae™ is very different. They may not be experienced with the procedure being done, and your results will not be as good. Also, it is best to find a provider like Dr. Schulman who has been using alloClae™ since it was first introduced to ensure the most experience.
